In my humble view, the book entitled "How Do Proper Names Really Work?" (De Gruyter 2023) overshadows the whole discussion on theories of reference, from Searle to Kripke and Putnam to Kaplan. The new theory is so solid that if implemented in a computer, it would enable it to apply proper names sensibly. Instead of regurgitating old ideas, I suggest people use this theory as a springboard to new achievements. I see no alternative in the long run.
The problem is that its author is an outsider with no "status-function" in a hierarchical system without a place for autists. The book was not published by OUP and he does not work at Harvard... Consequently, this, as other books of this author, will likely remain stillborn.
